BITE PROBLEMS

At Northside Dental Care we are committed to the effective treatment of bite problems, also commonly referred to as “occlusal problems” or “malocclusion.” To help our patients understand the nature of their bite problem(s), we use a novel and exciting presentation tool called BiteFX™. This computer tool uses friendly animations to explain occlusal problems in a way that makes sense to the patient. With BiteFX, our patients quickly understand complicated concepts that were previously difficult and time consuming to explain. We can also combine photos of your mouth with the BiteFX animations to give you an even better appreciation of our treatment recommendations. Bite problems are directly related to jaw joint problems, (TMJ), as the lower teeth and the lower jaw are connected to the upper teeth/upper jaw through the Temporomandibular Joints (TMJs).  An imbalance in the bite therefore can create problems in the TMJs, referred to as Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD).  For more information, visit our TMJ/TMD web page.
